i will go abit heavier 51.5kgs and dont think it would have given in to easy, great looking fish, CI is a great place, i dived on the side of the 2 km drop off wall which is basically all around the island not far from shore/rock face, great place and some large species kicking around
We all (including Rocky) estimated it at 50kg +. But I felt it would have pushed close to 55... maybe more. You know it's a big fish when 2 blokes are required to pull it in the boat cursing.
Nah, mate here has a 4.8m polycraft (nice boat), so fishing with him. I'm solo in his boat in tomorrow so will be even harder to get onto fish... so more diving for me.
It is blowing hard currently which does make it more difficult to access the SW of the Island. Any tips?
Wahoo are easy, flying fish in a butterfly net at night are fun, but the tuna have disappeared.
That looks freaking awesome! Did you have any raw? That's my goal this year - to get a tuna....but I would be happy with a 5 kilo one! How long was the fight?
Yeah, we ate a little bit whilst filleting it. Rocky smoked a lot for us - won't eat canned tuna ever again. Fight probably lasted 10 minutes - it took a hardcore powerdive in 250m of water. After that - it was circle work around the boat for a while.

Great Fin...but very quiet here currently...apparently the water is too warm!
Great temp for diving though. Also the winds are up now...arrrgh. Another 7 days to crack one.

XOS YFT on popper #1.One rat
XOS YFT on popper #1.
One rat so far. No bird activity currently, apparently need the next wave of slightly cooler water to come in.
GT's at the refuelling site have even disappeared??? Not that you fish for them; was hoping for video of them.
Stella 20K and a heap of poppers at hand.
2 dives and filming the locals free diving is todays agenda.
Cheers Pete
