Politics

Wed, 2008-08-27 13:19

Had a few thoughts on my lunch break and decided to post them.  Whilst I have opened the box in terms of politics on a fishing site, please think carefully about your post and please don't delve into it too far or get too emotional.  If you think i should add another option, let me know before too many votes get piled up.

Cheers,

Adam

It will be good to see if the ban will have an effect on
voting day. For me there are lots of other factors that will help me make up my mind.

also for hubbie and I, have to look at everything before the big vote. I'm not a fence sitter but at this stage I like promises to be kept. You promise you deliver no broken promises.

not just the v5

Unfortunately not really much to choose from between the 2 majors...

You could debate the v5 ban till the cows come home.

Rightly or wrongly something probably needs to be done - Either way it wouldn't please everyone.

Just got to feel for the businesses that will be effected !

Apart from the v5 issue.... The one thing that sticks in the back of my mind with the current party was pulling the pin on Rally Aus !

Thanks Mr McGowan Yell   NOT..

the v5

Why couldn't they have looked at alternative options -

*maybe 1 week a month ban taking fish

*or maybe a series of marine parks all down the coast - no fishing for any species inside the restricted areas

*and how long before they clamp down on other species - skippy, herring, whiting - the species that are going to be hammered during the closure

*and just how do they propose to police the new rules - there is nowhere near enough officers now - maybe a new levy for every one to pay for more fisheries officers

wouldn't be the first time the gumbiment has stitched us up

for my few cents a tax payer in this state,

Time to get a system back where "we" have some say in policy and species protection.

The "lock-em up and leave-em" approach of Labor and The Greens has had huge impacts on 4WD, Horse and Fishing Life styles. Much of it based on false and misleading science.

The V5 ban was draconian and heavy handed, almost old style School Master approach, where as a negotiated solution with all players was quite capable of being formed, it was ignored.
Fishing is not my right, it's my privilege, but it's a privilege that the government needs to respect and care for in a responsible and economic ~ social acceptable manner.
This state needs a coalition government with less control in Green hands and more independents and conservative people playing a strong role in controlling hair-brained policies and social engineering.
