Jap Twinpower or New Sustain
Submitted by jay_burgess on Tue, 2007-10-02 17:23For around the same cost I can either get a Jap twinpower 4000 or one of the new Sustain 4000FE's. The new sustain looks like a fine piece of machinery and I'm tempted to go with it despite it being the more deerer of the two. I've also heard very good reports about the Japanese twin power so I'd like you're oppinions please.

Coral Bay Boat Ramp - Opens 7th October
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Mon, 2007-10-01 09:13I've got the word from a few locals down at Coral Bay that the new boat ramp will be officially opened on the 7th of October. Last weekend when I was there they only had to finish painting the lines in the carpark. I know it will reduce environmental impact on Bills Bay, but when July school holidays come and 50 boats are trying to retrieve it should make things very interesting.
Cheers,
Adam

Medium Plastics Rod
Submitted by jay_burgess on Sat, 2007-09-29 15:25I'm after a plastics rod that's going to be used casting 5" Snapbacks and other similar sized plastics on a 4000 sized spinning reel with 20lb braid. It needs to be able to cast light jig heads into the wind on a bad day but also have enough grunt to pull Trout and Bluebone out of the reef. I'm thinking something around the 6-8kg range would be ok, preferably between 6'-7' (one piece). Don't really want to spend over $180-$200.
Any suggestions?

Power Knobs!
Submitted by jangles on Sat, 2007-09-29 10:48Gday fellow fisho's,
I've been recently seeing all these Power Knobs being introduced to the fishing reels. I was just wondering can you get any knobs for Bream Reels? They look absolutly awesome but the only thing is that I've only seen them designed for Shimano, Daiwa etc. Is it possible to find any for like Penn Affinity and that?
Cheers Lads.

Deckie Needed
Submitted by Tim on Fri, 2007-09-28 16:34Waiting for a phone to confirm it call but at this stage it looks like I will need a deckie for tomorrow.
Heading out from Pt Peron and could end up fishing anywhere depending on weather. Even got a couple of spots to try in 200 odd mtrs if the weathers as good as predicted. Most of the day will probably be spent in 60 - 100m tho.
PM if your interested.

Spheros 8000 v Stella 8000 for $$$
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Fri, 2007-09-28 09:49Has anyone got a spheros 8000 and experience good or bad with these reels? The one main combo I'm missing is something between my spheros 14000 (15kg mono, 65lb braid spools) and my applause 4000 (6kg braid). Its a bloody big gap thats missing there for all my spinning work and I need something inbetween to fix the void. I wanted to get a stella 8000, but not sure on the price vs spheros. I saw that the spheros was $150 or so in bluewater exmouth yesterday, so can only assume they are much cheaper online. Has anyone bought a stella 8000 online and got a good price in comparison to being able to buy a spheros which may not be as tough/$$$, but still more than capable of handling good fish.
Cheers,
Adam

Shimano Fireblood
Submitted by jay_burgess on Wed, 2007-09-26 20:35Got my hands on the 2008 Shimano Catalogue today and noticed the new Fireblood spinning reels. Look pretty nice with their dark grey body and red trim. I think I will need to get my hands on a 4000 for a 20lb plastics outfit for after the barra season.
Any idea on prices and when they'll be available in tackle shops?

golf
Submitted by dogsoldier on Wed, 2007-09-26 09:45
A Catholic priest and a nun were taking a rare afternoon off
and enjoying a round of golf.
The priest stepped up to the first tee and to ok a mighty swing.
He missed the ball entirely and said "Shit, I missed."
The good Sister told him to watch his language.
On his next swing, he missed again. "Shit , I missed."
"Father, I'm not going to play with you if you keep swearing,"
the nun said tartly.
The priest promised to do better and the round continued.
On the 4th tee, he misses again. The usual comment followed.
Sister is really mad now and says, "Father John, God is going to
strike you dead if you keep swearing like that."
On the next tee, Father John swings and misses again.
"Shit, I missed."
A terrible rumble is heard and a gigantic bolt of lightning comes
out of the sky and strikes Sister Marie dead in her tracks.
And from the sky comes a booming voice .......
"Shit, I missed."
