Full moon fishing?
Submitted by buschy on Fri, 2009-12-04 17:14Hi all,
I've never really paid much attention to lunar cycles, tides and the like in the past - just gone and wet the line whenever I have felt like a fish. I recently picked up an Angler's Almanac and this has piqued a bit of an interest in the topic.
Currently the moon is in the 'waxing gibbeous' phase - about 95% of full and in decline.
I'm planning and heading out for a fish up at Cervantes tomorrow - targeting gardies in the arvo, Tailor at dusk and a decent sized shark on the big rig (I'll take anything though). Keen to hear what other people's experience has been like with the moon in this phase - particularly targeting those fish?
Cheers,
Buschy. :)

I think it's one of those magic eye things. If you look hard enough eventually the name 'DAIWA' comes out of it.

RAV4 - Anyone own one? Need mechanical advise please!!!
Submitted by wayneleech on Fri, 2009-12-04 10:41Hi Guys,
Just wanted to know if anyone out there owns a manual RAV4 O7 model? We purchased one a couple months back and now have a "clunking noise" appearing when we put the vehicle into 1st gear. This noise has been there since owning the car, however it only seems appears after its warmed up - say once we've done 30kms + on the vehicle.
I'm currently dealing with the clarskon Toyota Dealership who are trying to tell me it's a characteristic of the car. I did test drive another manual up there which was the same model and it did have a slight clunk noise though nothing compared to ours.
(This was a vehicle that they selected which had done 30,000kms more than ours so I don't know how trust worthy such a comparision is)
The mechanical reasoning for it makes sense though I don't believe that it is a "characteristic" of this model and that it happens with ALL RAV manuals.
Would like to hear from anyone that owns the same car, or perhaps a mechanic that knows about this problem? Apparently its to do with slack in the main shaft / drive shaft?
The management up at Clarkson dealership are really starting to p#ss me off and it seems we are constanlty being told lies - so yeah once again any feedback would be much appreciated!
cheers
Wayne

Busselton Holiday
Submitted by Matt T on Thu, 2009-12-03 12:41G'day fellas, I'm heading down to busselton early January for a week or so with the family and will be taking the boat. Just after a bit of info about the place as I've only ever fished off the jetty and really then only for herring. I will be staying on marine tce right near the jetty.
1. Where is a good place, close by to find a reef that will be exposed at low tide that I can go looking for occy's.
2. Reef to snorkle for Ab's? (feel free to PM...)
3. What the fishing i like in the bay around the jetty - I assume it is KG's, Sandies, skippy, herring and of course squid.
4. A good spot to have a snorkle for some blues mannas?
Any help would be greatly appriciated and you can expect a full report on return! Cheers

help me catch flatties
Submitted by gumbyconts on Thu, 2009-12-03 00:13Well ive been going at it for a while now on the lures to catch some flathead. To date I've only managed 2 hookups with no luck landing them.
The main areas I try are around Matilda Bay in Crawley, Claremont Jetty/yatch club and the Narrows and Canning Bridge (and couple of times at Graham Farmer bridge).
I've been using baby vibes, tt switchblades, halco laser pro in pink, purple and gold with a light set up.
I'm not one to plan my fishing around tides and time of day too much.
So, if anyone has any tips of tides, time of day, other locations and any additional information that you can think of please let me know as its getting frustrating as I have put the hours in and ended up with no results.
Cheers,
Jay

Man moves mountain to park truck
Submitted by Colin Hay on Wed, 2009-12-02 10:26(I wonder how long it would take me chisel a channel to bring fish to my house from North Beach?)
An Indian villager has used a hammer and chisel over the span of 14 years to carve a tunnel through a rocky mountain so that he could park his truck in front of his house.
"I could not park my truck near my house since the mountain blocked my path," said 53-year-old Ramchandra Das, who lives in eastern Bihar state's Gaya district.
Mr Das said the fear of thieves stealing his truck prompted him to work on the tunnel all by himself after authorities refused help.
"I had to leave my truck miles away, so I decided to do something about it myself," Mr Das said.
Local villagers, who had to trek for miles to get around the mountain, are using the tunnel to reach their farms, and praising Mr Das for his work.
"We rarely come across a man who can work so hard to achieve his goal," said Prabhat Kumar Jha, a local government official.

Sambo Jigging Charter??
Submitted by Bungel on Tue, 2009-12-01 20:53A mate and i are wanting to do a day/half-day out chasing Sambos ( if they are around at the moment), thinking a charter would be the way to go.
Anyone have advise for the better operators to use? Based south of the river, so can head out from freo or somewhere like that.
I wouldnt be wanting to spend more than $200 each for the day, maybe get on a boat with a couple others to lower the overcall cost down. Also not keen on fishing with heaps of others where your all jammed in.
Any info is much appreciated... cheers!
George.
