Here it is finally... I have been talking this up for a while now and finally we managed to get the Coipasa Classic on after some ordinary weather the last few weeks. Thanks to Ian Keay from Fisheries for agreeing to be filmed whilst dissecting the winning dhufish during the comp. Ian shows where the correct ikijimi position is and extracts the otoliths that help age the fish. The fish in question was about to spawn that night so it was a touch of the guilts for Darryn who caught the fish from "the dropzone".

A short video of the action Bouttime and I got into the other week. We hooked atleast 7 narrow barred spanish mackerel and got busted off on 2 to the reef, lost 4 to sharks (on 30lb plus line) and the only one we managed to land was on the lighest gear we had. Lets just say he made the reel pay for it, as you will see. Enjoy.

Another highly compressed vid of my day out with Shamu. Features another double header (snapper / sambo) with release, followed by another beautiful 11.5kg Dhufish. This was the first of the dhuies on board and just listen to Shamu on the vid, not a happy camper that I caught it instead of him (hehehe). Little did he know that next drop he would be on. Oh and whilst I edited it out of the vid, the super snell hooks had broken off completely at the dropper loop with high abrasion just above it, god knows how that happened but it got me thinking about those teeth again????? More likely given its distance from the single 7/0 gamakatsu hook that it was caught on, would be the gill plates, but we will never know.

Just found some old footage I didn't know I had whilst editing up the motorvation video from the weekend. It features Dennis's partner Julie showing us how it was done in rough conditions. Went out the 4 mile yesterday with Feral. Got a few skippy and this little Sambo jigged on a softie. Was funny to watch. Unfortunately I wasn't quick enough on the camera so missed half of the fight.

There was so much footage from Jigging on Tuesday I had trouble making up a video. In the end I thought this little section was worthy of being put up on the site, sure with some more time I'll make up another couple. Watched this dvd this morning from the "Inside sportsfishing" series.... WOAH MUMMAH THERE IS SOME BIG G's in hawaii.

They fish this area that had been closed off for the last 100 years for military use and only just recently opened. There was 100's and 100's of gts all over 50lb most averaging 800-100lb and they are like blowfish everywhere you look. Insane footage, they set 6 unofficial records(didnt want to kill anything). Interesting reel choice tho, they were all using trinidads with mono, a sure site different to our saltigas with 80lb braid !

Great viewing, i think ive found another place to put on my "places to fish" list!

I had some footage leftover from a couple of outings so thought I should try and make it up into something. Theres a bit of rocky camerawork but its certainly better than nothing, features a few good queen snapper, breaksea, sambo and a nice pinky/skip combo, not a hell of a lot of rod bending action, just a few nice fish.
