Dhuie Footage
Submitted by poddyfish on Sat, 2010-11-13 08:48hi guys
thought id share a link to the footage my dive buddy rob and i took last week out from gero. Had some awesome dives the last 2 weeks just practising bottom times and techniques ready for the end of the closure. Groper , dhuies and some thumper trout are quite abundant all withing 5mins from launching so we are marking some more new ground on every trip. This footage came at the last spot of the day in only 10m of water - anchored , jumped in looked down - shit a big dhu no wait theres 2 awesome 3!!! WTF unreal. One big male est about 10kgs and his 2 g/fs not alot smaller maybve 8-9kg.... Was a very cool spectacle thats for sure
hope you enjoy

fish jumping and dolphins colliding mid air
Submitted by Timmo on Thu, 2010-09-30 13:27Check out all the fish jumping out of the water. I couldnt get the exact link to work but if you watch the first vid of the dolphins it will be next in line to load up. Each clip only goes for about 30sec if that. Hope the dolphins were OK!

JUST ANOTHER DHUIE UNDERWATER SHOT....oh and a few Sambos
Submitted by Pete D on Wed, 2010-09-29 17:44Till, myself and a mate Brad headed out early last Friday in my Trophy from Two Rocks.
First stop was a few small lumps that I had found late last year in the low 40's. Jigs and bait went down on one spot.....one dhuie and lots of sambos came up.
With plenty of sambos playing the game, I decided to anchor over the spot and drop over the side on scuba. As Jamie hinted, the sambos went quiet on the jigs at anchor, so no footage of sambos chasing jigs was got
; also, the boat was not quiet over the little lump, so it was very hard for me to see the jig, especially with the low vis (8-10 metres).
Vis wasn't the best, hence the clarity of the video, but there was some great fish and cray life on this lump. The top was about 34 metres and the sand area (note the sambos using it for a back rub) was about 41 metres. The bigger Dhuies would be close to 20kg each which was a great site.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gJ7comAY-Ak
One of the bigger Sambo's landed and released:

We also had plenty of whales around for the day and believe Jamie lost a jig because of contact with one.
The downside of the day happened about 3nm away from the above spot. My GPS decided to do a system reboot on starting the engine
. Oh well, know what I'm doing for the next few months.....driving around to find new fishing, diving and squidding spots. I started this process straight away - headed back to where we thought that lump was and spent about 2 hours searching for it with no luck. We did how ever find another smaller lump and did a dive on that - Number 1 Co-ord in my system!. No video this time...typical; the sambos were even bigger.
SBT sashimi and a few cold ales completed the day.
Cheers Pete

SPOT THE DHUIE......Please read before watching
Submitted by Paul G on Sat, 2010-09-25 20:38Went out today to have a quick go with the plastics as we couldn't be bothered with the dive.
Well the sounder was showing good fish so we tried all sizes and colours and stuff me not a bite .mmmmmmmmmmm so down with the camera for a look see. Bloody dhuies were everywhere and they would not take anything we put down. LOOK INTO THE BULLS EYE SCHOOL AND PLAY SPOT THE DHUIE. The camera does spin around a bit as it was tied to the release weight, (stand your laptop on its side as the camera was sitting on its side) so be patient as it does stop for a time to see plenty of fish. baldy, snapper, bb and dhuies.
Now the white spots on the dhuies, well believe me or not, these are the fish we released on Thursday all in good health. The white is where we have handled the fish when getting pics. This is where the slime has been removed and a white fungus is growing. All these fish were released without a release weight and all swam down by themselves. So there is a small bit of trivia to think about.
And as I have said before with the right care we can release fish successfully and at the moment all fish look to be in good health. WE WILL BE DIVING TOMMORROW IF CONDITIONS ALLOW. Will take some mulies down and try for some good still vid.
thanks for reading and watching http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptrTvIY_2iY
ps: you might have to watch it hd/fullscreen

Cockburn Sound dolphin
Submitted by wonky36 on Sat, 2010-09-25 10:23Bear with me for a few mins please. I bought an Ocean Whaler about 10 months ago and have spent that time launching and hanging around the Swan and Canning rivers. I needed to make sure I was competent enough before I ventured out to sea.
Yesterday, I took the boat with my mate down to Woodmans Ramp and went out into Cockburn Sound. I had done a load of homework using this site for fishing spots, mainly squidding for the day as I just fancied having a bash at it. Even though we didnt do too well, it was still a brilliant day out. Noone told me about all the dolphins that show off around the boats! We ended up finding squid in an area south west of the ramp that is shown as 11ft on my gps not too far away from Pinnacles Rock. I assume that is quite a good place to go as we caught half a dozen in two drifts.
Now the question I have is this......who is this fella that comes and visits the boats. Im guessing that he / she has been fed by anglers and boaties in the past as he hung around for a good few minutes each time he visited us. As we didnt feed him, he only gave us a flying visit on the third occasion.
Does anyone know the history of this or can shed light on the fine creature?

Kayak Fishing - Giddy Up!
Submitted by Albee Mangles on Thu, 2010-09-09 12:54Here's the video of the Pinky capture, yes it gives away a bit, but get over it, it's North Mole, you can see a dirty big houseboat in the Harbour in the background...
Slow and steady with Pinks on light gear, they never run far, so just let em go, and keep a constant pressure on them. You see me fiddling with the drag a lot, i'm actually letting it off more and more as the fight progresses, and the runs get shorter. You can also see me wave to the Jet Ski guys, and then see them shoot past in the background!!
As always, watch in HQ, with the volume up!!
Enjoy!

Squid On......
Submitted by Pete D on Tue, 2010-08-24 20:21Jumped over the side a few weekends ago to capture some squiddly action.
Expert casting by the missus made the filming a little easier.
Mission now is to find a large school of squid in clear water!

Feeding 'The Girls'
Submitted by Adam Gallash on Thu, 2010-07-29 19:15Not very good quality as the lighting sucks at work and its hard to film with the net there. But you get a bit of an idea of feeding some hungry dolphinfish.
