Cockburn Sound dolphin

Bear with me for a few mins please. I bought an Ocean Whaler about 10 months ago and have spent that time launching and hanging around the Swan and Canning rivers. I needed to make sure I was competent enough before I ventured out to sea.

Yesterday, I took the boat with my mate down to Woodmans Ramp and went out into Cockburn Sound. I had done a load of homework using this site for fishing spots, mainly squidding for the day as I just fancied having a bash at it. Even though we didnt do too well, it was still a brilliant day out. Noone told me about all the dolphins that show off around the boats! We ended up finding squid in an area south west of the ramp that is shown as 11ft on my gps not too far away from Pinnacles Rock. I assume that is quite a good place to go as we caught half a dozen in two drifts.

Now the question I have is this......who is this fella that comes and visits the boats. Im guessing that he / she has been fed by anglers and boaties in the past as he hung around for a good few minutes each time he visited us. As we didnt feed him, he only gave us a flying visit on the third occasion.

Does anyone know the history of this or can shed light on the fine creature?

he is about 35yrs to 40yrs  old, used to come right into our ramps at the CPBA, we had a bosun that had a ridge back (Jake RIP) and Jake used to swim with the dolphin, the dolphin would call out and Jake would bark (have photos of the both of them), then in he'd go.  But somebody said this old  dolphin had died last year.  Used to call the bloke from the University the dolphine man think he was studying (the club let him use the facilities)  them from Curtin, keeping a tally, the life of them, breeding, health  etc.  Thats were I got my info from for the old male dolphin.

We don;t feed them either, or the pelicans etc
