There have been other fatalities on the north side of rotto in the simular area, over the past few years, is this the same shark. No doubt the shark huggers will say its his own fault as we are invading thier environment and we are stealing thier food. Find it and kill the bastard. Condolences to family and friends. Bring back the drum lines.

I looked out on Thursday and
I looked out on Thursday and thought the ocean looked sharky with overcast condions combined with clear water and little wind.
Horrible for his family and friends who saw it all. What an effort to get him back to his family.

Thought the same thing about surfers when I went for my daily walk along the coast from Sorrento to North Beach. Very sad any way you look at it. Condolences to the family.

Apparently the victim was a conservationist and would not want the shark to be caught. It's also impossible to guarantee you catch the right shark. Having said that I personally agree with you and if the shark can be positively identified (as would have been easy with some of the past ones) then removing that shark should happen.

I am bemused that..
.. someone will object to culling sharks, crocs etc then spray flies and mozzies... and get inocculations.....
... doesnt conservation cover every animal/vegatable (tree)/insect/virus....

Very sad news that this has happened. Unfortunately the shark numbers are getting greater along with the size of them.
There was also another taken on the east coast.
I have always been a person that feels you enter the water at your own risk knowing that the big sharks are out there. Now it's getting out of control.

The Rotto victim lived
The Rotto victim lived around the corner from me and I often waited in my car as he backed his boat down the side of the house. Used to see him around quite a bit. Very sad with a yound family.
