Jigs

Wed, 2018-01-10 16:10

The biggest thing I have picked up on is that every make of jig is different - when trying out new jigs I test them a few m under the boat first and see how they look in the water with different movements of the rod/winds of the reel. Because of this, I beleive there's no tried and tested method of fishing jigs. Last trip all I ended up doing was bouncing the rod with the jig just off the bottom to get fish - any other methods just wouldn't gfet them biting.

Change it up

Wed, 2018-01-10 16:54

Dont be afraid to keep changing jig style and color but the best tip I can give is to try and keep the jig as vertical as possible with the lightest jig weight you can

As said before a change in technique can bring them on the chew and what works today may not work tomorrow

Good luck !!

demersal jigs

while there are a million on the market the best ones ive used and still use above all else are the Haoli half pitch (90grams) and the Current Zeek (100 grams ) with jigging sports or harbour assists  both of these with a slow pitch retrive with plenty of rod tip action catch dhus, baldies , pink snapper and breaksea cod along with losing a few to sambo's , everyone has there favourites but ive seen these 2 styles outfish other jigs and baits on my boat many times before
