I usually cook them a little

Fri, 2011-06-03 08:20

I usually cook them a little on the guts side, but really give it to them on the scale side.

Mightymouse from the forum though, skinned up some when we were at Cervantes, and they were great, then I went one further at home.

At home I have a couple sooks about bones (one 3yrs, the other over 30yrs) so I skinned and boned out the wings, rubbed them over with a lemon, then onto the BBQ.

It goes really well with a 10kgish dhufish.

How do other people do em?

Never done the wing thing

Fri, 2011-06-03 08:03

Even though I have been fishing for years, never done the wings. Simply dont know how! I do recall Andie mack somewhere on this site explaining how to remove them, but thought I would ask here (bloody lazy bastard!!)

Recall having some Snapper Wings at Finlay's in kalbarri years back and they where smashing, and up here I do get the odd red. Not as many as Simo though!!

How to remove wings the easy way

Fri, 2011-06-03 08:36

See Issue 5 page 24 onwards. Video of the technique is in there as well, along with a short blurb.

Otherwise you can go here to check the video out,

Here is a link direct to the Reeltime video page which has three versions (extended play with different species)

Cheers Andy

After all the recommendations I just have to do it. But As I recalled there is a skill with one of the bones. Now will check it out.

Either scaled or skinned

Either scaled or skinned (depends on fish), light soy or lemon juice, a bit of butter and oil - slow fire = Yum.

Post was from a while back but I thought I might ask how everyone does their wings?... Recipes?

I love them on the BBQ but have recently found deep frying them is awesome.

Are you now keeping wings crasny1?

Andy Macs Link again below. Wings are easy after watching this.
