If your going for snapper whiting are the go to bait use the heads as they hold on really good.

Not sure if you can use a patrnoster up there? or just one hook. i like using hook at the bottom about a half a meter leadr  80 lb with a ball sinker above the conneting swivel. Works ok for me. A sigle hook about a 6/0 and float the bait down in the burly trail is another winner.

Butterfish

Pinkies love fresh butterfish, it's all I ever use as bait in Denham. Depends where you are fishing with the rigs question. Out deep in the channels (bent pin etc) you'll need a dropper rig with a fair chunk of lead if the Tide is running. In shallower areas where there is less current, small bean running to the hook or no weight at all works well, Pinks will happily follow burley and cubes up the water column to take a bait.  Octojigs, bigger plastics and the like are also a good option inthe deeper water.

Burley

My mix is, Chicken pellets, bit of fish oil, and whatever left over bits of bait you have or cube a few of the butterfish and add them.  Just don;t overdo it on the burley or you'll be swarmed by NW blowies

I'd avoid the burley bucket.  I just chuck a bit now and then. No real science to it.
