12V Camp shower. What type to buy or how to make?

FW Crew,

As I continue to accumilate creature comforts to take away camping it is time I added a shower to the list which will help keep the missus keen to get away.

I've got a good 12v power pack which I'll rig it up to but was wondering what type are the best brand to buy.

I have heard they can stuff up easily if left to cool in water so best to remove after each use.

I have also heard of making yourself outa a bilge pump... Whats your thoughts crew...

seen showers in bcf for $35. id say unless you have the parts lying around to make one your best bet would be to just buy a ready made one.

Shower

Hi mate,

I have used a few of the $35-40 jobs and they all work pretty well for a while. they do have a tendancy to leak - mine not for quite a few years - and stuffing the motor but then at that stage just rip off the old motor and wack on a small bilge pump. The one that I had was a Primus but they look like they all come out of the same factory. The Primus does state a slightly higher litre per minute.

Bilge pump

I have a tank out of an old hot water system(approx 30l)  have welded a section on the bottom so you can fit a gas ring under it-protected from the wind . Warm up the water throw the bilge pump in and you have enough hot water for all at reasonable pressure.

I'm looking for a shower too

I'm looking for a shower too but they all seem to draw water from a bucket or the bilge pumps from a hull, I have a 60l tank under the tray of my lux and I don't know how u could plumb anything up, surely there is a inline 12v pump with a shower rose somewhere!
