Demersal Cray Bait

A few people have commented about being warned by fisheries for having dermersal heads, frames etc for cray bait on board during dermersal ban period.

Havent they got anything better to do?

Will be interesting to see where they are going with this idiotic rule.

I'd be pointing this out to them( extract from the guide) and asking them where in the rules it says you can't use frames and heads.

But agree if it's a thing it's ludicrous.

You may not fish for rock lobster using any bovine material (other than gelatine or tallow), skin or hide, or anything to which mammal skin or hide is attached, or abalone material.

Isn't the issue that if you are caught with dermsal frames on your boat outside of demersal season fish cops can't tell if you just caught it ?   I don't think they care if the frame is used as cray bait, it's more an issue of enforcement of the demersal rules.

Anyway it's another shit side effect of the new longer demersal rules.

That seems ridiculous. Do Fisheries think you've caught a demersal that day and only kept the head and frame? Luckily for me I usually just use tailor for craybait.
