14.8kg Dhu + more

Hi all
Went out off Bunbury yesterday morining at 3.00am, got out fishing by about 4.20am pretty quite to start just lots of skippys and little snapper.
Was havin no luck at the current spot so moved out a bit further, still not much luck at that spot and only seing a 2.5m shark, which didnt take a bait
we decided to move out even further. Got to the spot and bang, my dad got a small dhu, 52cm, after that a few more drifts, i hooked up to what i thought was a YTK had the Stella 5000 screamin, after lots of good runs a big dhu poped up.. And had a bag limit for dhues.. he weighed in at 14.8kg.
After that we had one more drift, and i then caught a 50cm breaksea cod, And then called it a day.

Here is a tip
Seeing the picture of the little one makes me realise that many people would catch a just size dhuie and measure it this way and go you beauty, just legal. But here is some tips for you all to prevent an expensive and embarassing conversation with a fisheries officer back at the ramp
Measure you small Dhuie's with there mouth shut. Its about 1.5 cm difference between mouth open and mouth shut.
A just size dhuie will shrink 3 mm in rigourmortis
Those shimano brag mats can be as much as 2 cm out at 50cm.
So for all you people that use brag matts as your measuring device, get a tape measure and a marker and mark up the real measurements.
Always shut the mouth of a just size dhu and allow for shrinkage
Because 499.5mm on the fisheries steel ruler is busted for undersize
