2006 Perth International Boat Show - Who's going?

Had a look at the spread in Saturday's West Australian and it looks like this year might be a bit better than the last one. I was particularly excited by the prospect of wine tasting at the same venue (Hehehe).

Still a distinct lack of tackle shops there (I know the reasons why) but it would be nice to have a bit more fishy content.

The demo's are always great to watch and apparently there is a "fish Fighter" that you can have a go at. Not sure what it is but sounds interesting.

Anyone else going from here?

Pie & Chips

Sun, 2006-08-20 17:55

The round trip was 900klms for a Pie and Chips for lunch.
Rocked up at 09.30 Sat hoping to score a few bargains for the boat, but alas not a great deal on offer. Was after a stereo unit but came away empty handed. My better half is in Perth tomorrow and will pick one up at one of the stores in the 'burbs, along with a few other bits that I thought may have been at the show.
The lack of fishing gear displays was obvious and a bit of a disapointment.
BUT.
Were'nt the display of boats, both small and large just fantastic.
The manufactures of boats in Australia are producing at the very least some supurbly finished products and I believe they are in line for a pat on the back for this. It has become a very compeditive market and they realise this thus quality in finish is obvious.
I had my eye on a 7m Leisure Cat but alas the marbles came out wrong.
We will be back next year.

Cheers

I'll see what the weekend brings. No plans at this stage so I might head down for a bit of day dreaming.

Its been that long I can't remember how to use the B/W 1

Tue, 2006-08-15 21:22

Probably need a few trips out to get used to any new devices, maybe Fishwrecked can sponsor me to field test one and write a report. You can come along as technical advisor. (Hehe)

I've heard that the new colour sounders out now can tell the difference between a Dolphin fish and a salmon in 40m of water.

Hmmmm?

Sounder

Wed, 2006-08-16 10:20

I hope they can Andy, save me a lot of embarrassment thats for sure. But then again, I feel that all this knocking is coming from outfishing the skipper, so I'm not too shocked that you've caught the bug too. :))
