3-08-2010 Night Dive

Just got back in. Till's and my catch on display (mine on the right).
Vis down from last week. Temperture was up...well for me with socks in booties and two hoods
Still a few prawns about and the crab size is down. Had little cuttle fish follow me around toward the end of the dive..which was something different.
Steamed crab and fresh prawns on the menu tomorrow night now.

When diving for crays
When diving for crays DieHard and I come across a medium size cuttle to keep, I will just loop his head, pull tight, out with the knife and off with his head....all very quick. Same princple applies to occy's but you have to hold the loop very tight and don't be put off by the tentacles coming up the loop to grab at you!
I don't catch big cuttles...they are just too cute and tend to follow you around.

Probably my best haul yet of the prawns, a little over a kilo. Andrea laughed when she saw just three big crabs because she won't shell more than three in a sitting.

Steamed crab and fresh prawns. Sounds a bit better than my greek salad with no dressing (I am trying to lose some weight Pete).

Your killing me you guys. Nice captures. A mixed bag, love scallops even if you only get a few. Congrats on cracking the 1kg mark Till, that's getting rarer and rarer as time goes on. Unless you are Pete the Prawn master that is....

I was ready to get in quick smart, so Pete says to Brad; "hurry up, or Jamie will get all the prawns". To which Brad replies; "not worried about that, I'm worried about you getting them all."
Ben: probably a small chance, they're only small scallops, but I don't feed them to my son. Did see some huge razorfish, you could probably just about mine those!
