3 deaths

Been a horror day with 3 deaths on the water today. 2 involved Ab fishing and one where a rec boat has collided with a commercial vessel.
Very sad for the family's involved .

Shocking really, can seem
Shocking really, can seem them stopping the abs because of it. Not into the snails myself but putting a super short season on them encourages people to get into the water under any conditions.

today down south was another
today down south was another long period swell , swell was actually only just around 2 metres .but the surge and energy in the sets was murder as we beach launch ,we noticed it combined with the mornings high tide can see how many ab fishers today would have struggled big time ....
very sad for the familys concerned

Same up here Hezzy, surge on the beach was insane. Got one up the rear when we landed that filled the back of the boat.

Not good at all. Don't
Not good at all. Don't understand how a recent boat could hit a commercial boat with enough force to end that way .
And as far as abs go is it realy worth risking your life for. Sandy saw one years back that drowned because he wouldn't let go of the bag of abs , people do stupid things

Unfortunately the sea takes
Unfortunately the sea takes no prisoners. Collisions of any type at sea have varied outcomes that's for sure. I had a less than ideal event a number years ago with a large mooring off Dampier at night that should have ended it for both myself and my mate but thankfully we made it back to Dampier. That said, I lost a mate a year earlier because they hit a wave and the boat flipped over, he just got hit in the wrong spot and that was it. Poor bloke with him did everything humanly possible to save him and nearly drowned himself trying to him above water but had to let him go otherwise he'd be gone as well. I never met the bloke that did that but if he's out there, thanks for trying to save Maley mate, you're a bloody legend. The sea giveth, the sea taketh away.
Condolences to all.

But if you watch them
They never look at waves ect coming at them . More interested in looking for abs. Fair few can not swim . Doesn’t take much to get sucked of reef , then sucked under ledge . Then spat out . Fisheries always stop day when it’s unsafe conditions ( try to protect people) . Unfortunately always going to happen . It’s always rush, rush, rush . Not looking at surroundings

Sad but almost inevitable
Sad but almost inevitable each season. Why anyone would go in the ocean if they cannot swim is beyond me. Not saying these people couldn't but I have seen many that can't swim a stroke out at Mettams.
