6.5 Creedmoor

 Howdy crew,

I'm thinking of treating myself and buying a new rifle.

My current crop of high powereds were all purchased second hand and of the 3 ( Rem .17 & Sako Forrester 22-250 ) i only use the winchester mod 70 .308...

Both the 17 and the 250 were aquired cheaply 15 years ago, both would need barrel replacements. Both came with 8 x 56 Khales scopes, i've had the scopes serviced and will also sell for the right price.

I'm thinking of having a cleanout and turning 3 rifles into a 6.5 Creedmoor.

Is anyone here using that calibre rifle? Seems to be hard to find a fault with it from the reports i read...

Not the easiest calibre to find for sure :)

I'd be asking around the gun clubs (the boys at busso/Capel are always buying selling to mix things up) I've offer you a 6br but it's a fair bit different than your looking for

I have 2 x 6.5 creeds.  One I use for F-open out to 1000m the other is a hunting rifle. If I was ever made to sell all my rifles and have just one it would be the 6.5 creed

very accurate. Brass & projectiles are everywhere if you want to reload. Barrel life seems pretty good in the open rifle barrels. But I doubt a recreational shooter would shoot a barrel out unless running hot loads.

They seem to be easily tuneable and inherently accurate straigh out of the box. Can send you some pics of groups and 500 from the hunting gun if you like. Not much point in talking about the target rifle if only using it for hunting

Australian Hunting Network has a decent and long running forum.
