6.7 Surtees Game Fisher

Hi All,

First post after lurking in the background for a while. Keen to hear from anyone who has experience with Surtees boats, particularly the 6.7 Game Fisher as I have my eye one one at the moment. Have had a good look using the search function, quite a bit of info there,  but any additional info, good or bad would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your replies.

Hi I have the 5.5 Work mate

Hi I have the 5.5 Work mate hardtop had it for 2.5 years and love it great fishing boat, I did some research on boats as I dont have to much boating experiance its very similat to barcrusher, was told surtees used to make the hulls for them. when comparing both boats I concidered the welds looked a lot cleaner on the surtees and as I was buying new what the surtees had as standard features (deck wash, live bait tank etc.)made it cheaper than th B/C. I recently took out a member who had his fiberglass boat getting repaired and he remarked that it was best ali boat he had been on.I know it not the same as the one you are looking at (Is it the new/2nd hand one with very low hours at Aqua marine) I,m sure you will be very happy with it.

Surtees used to make the hulls..

..for Barcrusher? more like someone got the agency for Surtees in australia, then pinched the design and marketed them as Barcrusher, so the story goes. I could be wrong, it's been known to happen

WET

Fri, 2017-05-26 08:38

 G'day

I spent a few hours on a 6.1 surtees a couple of years ago and ended up with a sore back for 2 months.  A few contributing factors, not the least of which is my occassionally dodgy back.  The boat rode better than I expected with a hull weight around half the wait of the 600C I had at the time, but seemed to be a VERY wet boat with large quantities water coming over the hard top constantly.   This I think was the issue, the driver had a wiper but none for the passenger, so assessing when to brace was impossible much of the time.  So if you get a windscreen wiper, get one for the passenger :-)

Although it's probable that the 670 would be bigger in all directions and that wetness would be much less?

I'm new to ally trailer boats and not sure if this is normal but the bottom of the hull intermittently made a big whooop sound, like a wobble board.

cheers

Rod

Thanks for the replies, thought there was a connection somewhere between Surtees and Bar Crusher but was never quite sure what it was, and I'm still not sure !

Sam57, do you find yours to be a wet boat or noisy as described by rodfish ?

It's not at Aqua Marine, this one is a private seller.

Definatly not a wet boat, unless you fall in,ha. I dont now what weather or spead rodfish's . trip was in but with the hard top you are well protected from wind/spray.of course if you are jumping waves it can be hard on your  back, but with the ballist system it helps. I havent been on too many different boats but wouldn't consider it noisy.
