Apparently weighed 70kg and the story was it was caught in Seth Efrica ;-) (edited)

Would have been a real mission to pull that up in through the breakers and the shallow bank!!!!

I havent broken the 30kg Mulloway yet.....  puts mine PB to absolute shame!!!

Would love to see the jewels from this fish!!!!

Is that dead set ? Never seen any mulla look close to being that big ! Can this be varified ?

You reckon?? I think he's prob holding up 50-60kg's of it and the way he's straining I reckon most blokes would look just like it holding that weight.

 It's a Kob not a Mulloway, they to over 90kg so there growth potential far exceeds our Mulloway.

 there are four main species in SA. 

Argyrosomus japonicus - Dusky Kob (most common) 

Argyrosomus thorpei - Squaretail Kob 

Argyrosomus inodorus - Silver Kob

Otolithes ruber - Snapper Kob 

You will find most common fish is A. japonicus.

used is Argyrosomus japonicus) 
Habitat: Coastal embayments 
and estuaries, off beaches 
and inshore reefs. 
Grows to: About 200cm and 74kg. 
Reproduction: Matures at about 90cm and six years. 
Life span: Around 30 years. 
Features: Silver/bronze sides, long dorsal fin and ‘spade tail’.
