yeah good size Bruce .. the one in the link is a fat beast also going 95cm ...and I think Tailor Marc got one that went over a metre that I can't find .
Went down Donnelly River with the old man once, got chatting to a bloke that was sitting on his little jetty in front of his shack, he started telling us how a while back the WA or australian record tailor was caught off the beach there. He was getting right into it too, spiining a good yarn...
"It was an american bloke, gun fisherman he was, just using a crappy old rod he's hooked onto something huge. He was running down the beach chasing it, got right down to the knot at the reel, was chest deep in the surf trying to land this thing..." etc
Think he said it was just over a metre. We thought rightio, good story, probably did catch a big tailor but dunno bout state record. At some point, might've been at Walpole pub on the wall (fishing records board), lo and behold metre+ tailor caught at Donnelly River! Wish there was a photo of it...
That memory piqued my interest and i went searching for the record...
Tailor- Pomatomus saltator- 12.100 kg- Brian Smith- Steep Point- 4 November 1981
maybe the old bloke was lying after all haha. 12kg! Wonder what length that was. Some interesting stuff in the records. The biggest coral trout 7.5kg listed at Denham. The biggest Cobia...61kg, landed at Monkey Mia...man that area has produced some bigguns.

That state record came from Cloughs Bar when you were still allowed to fish it. There's bloody dinosaurs swimming around in that joint!
