Hey Ledge, I fished an area just to the east of the D9 where the sand bar comes up to about 4m for some big sand whiting a couple of weeks back. No KGs though.

Yep, as Dale said, the area of banks, sand and sea grass just east of the D9 is my go to area. Not as busy as the southern flats and can hold a few species as well as squid.
I start as shallow as i can find , then drift until you find the depth the whitting are feeding at . Fresh squid tenticles will improve your catch rate for the KG's , so don't forget to get a squid jig out ASAP .

..and yes, was hard work. We were around 25nm out. Quite rough early, but fortunately the wind actually backed off a bit for the trip back
