Got a call from my sister in law after she got a call from my bro in law tonight, they steamed up there today, bit choppy with the southwester at their back, but picked up 3 good mackies on the way up.

Hours
How many hours have you got on those motors Neil? You've had a few issues with them.

880 now john
The motors sit very low in the water so the bottom of the pumps are in the water and is washing all the grease out of the seals which has caused the seals to melt inturn sucking water into the oil pump when in the water .pain in the ass id I had to remove the whole power head to get to the pump

Lucky you're mechanically minded or it would be real expensive.

yeh would be expensive paying someone to do it
Especially 2 motors hate to think what a mechanic would have charged me

Southerlies have been a pain in the arse up there, but bro in law has been getting among the baldies and dhues, finding a few longtail on the lee side of the islands when having a slow trawl.

Still to far away to tell
Still to far away to tell ,if your fishing each day the winds need to be light.but we will still go with 20knot wind .We just free dive around the islands and go out in the dingy ,no need to move the big boat . but in saying that time and date weather looks OK.
