Abrolhos islands advice

Hi all im planning a trip to abrolhos islands for the first time around April when wind and swell is down. Have had a good look on the search function and found alot of good info. Just wondering if anybody could advise where is best to anchor for the night as i cant find specific info on that. Have been looking at navionics and figure Sandy island , Gun island or Stick island in the southern group or just west of Pelsart island are the go. We have a 22 footer and ideally we would like to anchor and sleep on the beach overnight but can sleep on the boat if we have to - all info greatly appreciated cheers dave

I run a large plow anchor as a temporary Mooring when I do trips like that. Abrolhos has public moorings that are in pretty good areas though.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

Camping on the islands isn't
Camping on the islands isn't allowed, you're supposed to sleep on your boat.
When I did the southern group I camped at Bitey Holes which is on the northern tip of Pelsart island. There's a narrow channel through the reef to get in there, but it's very sheltered and has deep water all the way up to the beach once you get in there. It does get a bit crowded sometimes though with 4 or 5 other boats all squeezed in there at the same time.

It's worth taking a star picket and sledge hammer for mooring. Anchors don't hold very well on the loose coral rubble there.
We also stayed at Gun island. There is a little beach on the east side of the island just north of the rock groyne there. We initially tried camping on the west side of the island but it was so shallow that we kept running aground before we could get close to the beach, so I recommend staying on the east side.

I have seen some big cabin cruisers anchored on the west side of Pelsart island down towards the southern end of the island, but I think to get in there you have to enter from the north of the island group and follow the channel all the way down (10km or so). We're usually out fishing all day so didn't have time to try and get in there.
Also remember to register with fisheries before you go.

I have done 2 Abrolhos trips
I have done 2 Abrolhos trips with Craig from Saltwater. I have no advice other than i wish i didnt take travel tablets on the first day because i fell asleep too early and missed out on all the squidding. Was too worried about getting sea sick and it backfired because i was so drowsy. We slept on the boat. Also if you are going for a number of days, try do what Craig's deckie did and cook up all the bits of the fish that were spare after filleting for the meals. We had all sorts. So yummy. Im so jealous right now :(

Fisheries are hot onto it
Fisheries are hot onto it over the Easter/April school holidays.
Planning what to do this year myself, maybe Port Gregory/Wallabies/North Island (havent been there for 18yrs)
All weather dependant though, if shitty it'll be just Sthn group or Dirk Hartog maybe
