Could be a small big eye

Could be a small big eye actually. Don't albacore pecs go past their second dorsal? Bigeye also have a notched caudal fin, not sure that albacore do.

no was like that both sides thats why i was thinking alby except was quite yellow when landed. eitherway was bled (yes behind the pec) nice looking fillets and is going to be marinaded in yakitori and seared medium rare with some wasabi on the side.

Do juvenile albacores have as long pectorals though? Though, either way, I dont think its an abacore due to the head not being pointy enough.

Looks like a bigeye to me. Check out the v notching on the tail. Did you get any pics while it was still alive. If you have the rear belly markings then it can make it easier to ID them.

Eitherway, bigeyes are tasty! Also, considering how close they are to yellowfin, they do taste a fair bit different (i.e. notice them side by side).

flesh colour ?

the flesh colour would also be an indicator - albacore usually a lot lighter. Big Eye would be deeper red
