hey guys,
saw this thing on the fillet table in exmouth over new years..some guys in a hire boat caught it off bundegi, had everyone at the table stumped on what it was and why you would keep it

I think it is related to the stargazers. Massive mouth on them compared to the body. Shit fish IMO all slimy and stinks.
Caught a few up here in Karratha and its a line cutter case. I wont touch them to even get the hook out.
Others have called it a mega mouth.
Someone in the know will ID it.
Thats the classic case of WTF is it, might be good to eat and kill it for that sake just incase it is good on the plate.

The important thing...
...is it was killed and taken to the filet table in order to ID it. Either people simply don't have the brainpower to take a camera out on a boat and take pictures of things that are still alive or they are too worried about missing out on a feed in case something might be ok to eat.
