I'm sorry i dont mean to hijack your thread here, but just looking into getting our 4.6m Tinny painted at the moment. Does anyone have a rough idea of how much they think it would cost to get a basic all-round white job done? Cheers

 Got my 7.5m hardtop done

Mon, 2014-06-09 19:14

Got my 7.5m hardtop done around 6months ago, paid 8000 for it. Job quality was ok they didn't sand done some cool marks from the welds which would of been easy to do at the time

I didn't go all out with coving. Just got the sides faired because it's black and it would stand out if It wasn't done.

I got quotes between 8-15k

 Why not do it

Tue, 2014-06-10 09:37

 Why not do it yourself?

Gun-$100-200

Mask-$100

Paint and Primer- $200-300

Tape/cover sheets-$50

Borrow a compressor

few hours watching youtube

many many hours prepping/sanding and your away.

I just did a 5m project boat and didnt think it was worth 5k for a paint job, took 5 days all up as you need to sand and paint the primer in the same day to prevent any oxidization so by doing a pannel a day makes it more manageable. If you do decide do DIY there is a boat paint shop down in south freo who we bought our paint from and he gave us ALOT of advice about the process.

as Milsey said research the preparation well-its like the foundations of your house.

If they fail everything after that is wasted.
