Ammo Jetty

Hello to all, love the site, been reading the forums for a while and finally have something to post, albeit not that exciting. went with a mate down to the ammo jetty for the first time tonight, both being fairly new at fishing were just hoping to get something to take home. arrived around 5pm and out by 8, i can honestly say ive been to nightclubs with less ppl but we got an ok spot near the end and every1 stayed out of eachothers way (mostly). started off alright an after a few minutes wed both landed some butterfish and undersize tarwhine and that was basicly the whole session, baby tarwhine almost to a fish a cast at points. even managed a juvy pink snapper, wouldve been 12cm. everyone around us was mostly using baitchaser rigs for tailor bait but other than that nothing sized was caught. is this normal for that jetty or this time of year? or mabye we were doing something wrong? mostly just using running sinker and dropper rigs with coral prawns and squid on light rods with 8lb leaders. it wasnt a bad session in the end so just trying to learn more about new spots so any help would be appreciated. cheers

A fitting title near aussie day I thought!

Anyway , the ammo jetty is like any metro hard fished location mate , there is mainly small , if not undersize fair

to be caught most days , with the odd and i mean odd bigger trohpy fish for those whom spend every waking hour down there.

The north and south mole and habours like hillarys etc are much the same, however all places can experience good runs of good fish sometimes,

think tailor at hillarys , salmon and pinks at north mole, or even tuna and the odd mack at woodsman jettys and breakwalls, however these are

not every day or even everyweek captures.

My advise , which I follow myself is to not be afraid to travel, there are good fish ( shoreline) in the area from preston to guilderton, and you need to

get out there and start fishing, the results will come if you stick with it.

Have a look at google earth, read reports and just simply keep moving and fishing until you build up a knowledge base, its a proven formula.

good luck , and remember to post when you crack that metro feed , that you have nutted out yourself, its very satsifiying.

Cheers mate, sound advice. Yeah I also tried south mole for the first time recently with very similar results but it does make sense when you put it that way. I moved south of the river recently so my old bream spots have become a bit of a trek so this summer has mostly been trying new things and spots to see what works. So ill keep at it and hopefully have something good to post soon haha
