Andaman Islands.....anyone been?

  Hi all,

Heading to India for a weeks work in August and have a chance to head to Port Blair/Havelock for a couple of days on the way back. Looks like I'm going to be        battling the monsoons at that time of year but if anyone has fished there and has any info on Charters, landbased spots, accomodation it would be appreciated. I'll  probably head there anyway to have a look for future trips so to be honest getting out for a fish will be a bonus.

Cheers in advance for any help, always happy to pass on anything I learn once I've been.

  Nick

not bragging but.....
we owned a charter boat that was based in Phuket and did the run to the Andamans (Blue Kite) -
- land based is going to be good if you can get to some of the beaches out of town, - Port Blair is chaos
Massive GT's to be found and the biggest dog tooth tuna you can imagine if you can get out on a charter - not sure that there are any based out of Port Blair but if you can find one I would highly recommend it - quite a few of the islands in the Andamans are off limits and still have native inhabitants that have not had much contact with the outside world - pretty unique place mate - if you can get there do so before the world swallows the place up

cheers
Clint

Nice one Buz
Nick - am sure you already aware but make sure have a yellow fever vac and get a record of it - they are pretty strict on that in the Andamans and might not let you in without one!

  Cheers for the replies Clint/Buz,

E mailed a couple of charters so I'll let you know how I go, looks like a few will still be wrapped up for the monsoons when I'm there. One of the local guides seems like he would take me out if it's not too wild.....having a look at pics on the link Buz sent through has made me determined to get out for at least one day. At least I can have a scout about for a trip next year....worst case scenario is a couple of days on a beach somewhere new!

 Thanks fellas,

 Nick
