Insane! Bet he'll be watching that vid again with the value of hindsight and wishing he'd charged on forward. Nothing worse in big surf than committing and looking down the line realising that you have a 0% chance of making it and you're in for a long hold down and then getting smashed by the rest of the set.

 Yep i'm fucked if i know why he faded the first time when he set his line but then to do it again?!?!?

That thing picked him up like a feather in the gerro seabreeze.....

You'd expect he had the wind thumped out of him prior to the hold down that followed.....

The energy in that thing after it broke was pretty insane, how more of these fellas aren't dying is hard to fathom.....

It would be interesting to know which part of the wipeout broke his back...th initial impact? or the being tossed and dumped on the face? or the pummeling underwater?

 thats insane, watched it this morning and ive watched it 30 more times since.

 Hope he recovers, gotta respect the big wave surfers, they lay it on the line.

The first word that came into my mind after watching the vid was "guts" it knows no boundary's.

There is a man with a huge amount of the "right stuff"
If ever there is a beam me up scotty moment that has to be it.

I'm sure we all hope he makes a speedy and full recovery.
