Best Boatside Drop Award

Thu, 2006-06-29 21:42

I still kak myself when I see that bit with Rory dropping that little tuna. He had been making a habit of dropping fish boatside, earlier that day he lost a 6ft long Baracuda and had been busting off on other quality fish then this thing came in after a pretty good fight on light line and the look on his face was priceless when it de-hooked itself at the last second.

The michael jackson impersonation was because he had sliced his thumb to the bone filletting on the first night and had to keep his dressings / bandages dry on the boat. Funny as!!!!

Cheers

Nice one Andy

Once again you've inspired another trip to the tackle store Andy. Everytime I go and watch yours or Gully's Exmouth vids I think of something I'm missing from the tackle box. Looks like you've immortalised a small part of an awesome trip in a video that we can all enjoy.

Cheers mate,
Adam

Wire Traces Galore

Fri, 2006-06-30 14:17

If you have nothing else on your list make sure you get some wire traces as the biteys are everywhere.

Also drop your hook sizes down a bit to 6/0's but often this means (depending on what leader material you are using) you can't put them on with dropper loops. Have to cut and tie them on as two strands of the line wouldn't go through when I was using Penn 10x but I managed it with Jinkai.

I noticed a lot of the charter guys were using very small circle hooks and cleaning up with them.

Its those little things you learn on that first trip up there. I think my little wire snells worked really well with the mackies with a floated mulie but were a bit overkill for the spanglies and reds, though they did account for all the really big ones.

Cheers
