another day on the sambos and a entry to the record board once i get it done

got a phone call from marko(hoookt) and he twisted my arm to go get some sambos today, so marko, troy and myself headed out for another bash.

was not as good as thursday, even with plenty of fish on the sounder all day, they just wernt to keen today.

we still managed to get a few along with my new pb and a entry onto the board when i get it done(tomorow hopefully)

a couple of good fish droped by every one on board and something that was solid and shook troys rod to bits nearly, it was like a jack hammer on the end of the rod, we were calling it for a tuna and it would of been decent but snapped the 60lb leader in half after a few minutes.

markos biggest for the day

my new pb @ 152cm and we all estamated 30kg , this thing was heavy.... gave me some curry, i was calling it for a shark right up till it surfaced and i was happy when it did.....i was nackered!!

again the pic dose not do it justice, this was a fat sucker.

a few other smaller ones boated along with a small bonito.

cheers marko for the company mate, just wish it was a bit more active today.

ron

Nice work Ron. Shame Marko has given up on his teapot cosy hat.........haha.

What sort of depths?

We got smashed by them today, they were very selective most of the morning but once you hooked one, they fired up and we had several double hookups and one tripple.

Shit hot Ron. I'd love to get hit by something like that on the new jigging outfit. Are you releasing or keeping them? Reason I ask is how you hang on to the suckers if they're still alive and kicking.

I would be fairly certain

Sat, 2012-10-20 19:01

I would be fairly certain they were all released,, almost all big sambos are.   Sambos go mental when hoooked and the harder you go, the garder they go. But once landed, they are VERY docile and hardly move, making handling very easy, even with big fish.

Quick pic and spear back in, in 40m they release excellently.

 hey ron. rigged a blue

Mon, 2012-10-29 19:29

hey ron. rigged a blue silver pirate with the additional assist on saturday out from mandurah in about 18m. hooked onto what i called as a big sambo but didnt get to see it.  it played with me for about five minutes, whenever i got som line back t just went on a big run.  i lost it, thinking he snapped me off, but in fact the jig was still there.  the extra assist hook had hooked him but straightened.....  i thought it was a decent hook, s 'shout'.  i probably was too keen on winding up the drag.  more patience required. but the rig works for sure!
