Another good feed

Managed to go and throw a line in again this morning getting my limit in 2 hours . Lots of small ones went back to grow .

Nice quiet spot to just relax.

How do you fillet them? Just normally and then slice out the belly cavity or do you roll them out?

 Yeah you can fillet just

Mon, 2020-04-20 12:35

Yeah you can fillet just like you would do a sand whiting or you cut right down the backbone while it's on its back then butterfly then roll them flat with a stubby once you have emptied it of cause and pan fry in butter. The backbone just peels right out and only very fine rib bones left in it . They tend to crisp up and you don't notice them .

Thanks Russ. I like eating them but normally can't be bothered trying to get around the bones. I'll give the butterlying a go.

Cheers

Just remember once

Tue, 2020-04-21 16:43

Just remember once butterflies out give it a roll over with t he empty stubby . Helps to flatten it out for cooking. Also if you didn't know when you catch them run a rag over them a couple of times as it will remove all the scales .
