Hi Guys, like many have had to do, we cancelled our two week stay at Yardie Creek Caravan Park Exmouth for the start of July. when i rang and cancelled the accommodation i was asked to pot the request in writing, which i did. We got an acknowledgement to the email but two weeks down the track, no cash! We paid just over $2k so keen to get it back. I tried ringing them yesterday but phone goes straigt to a recorded message saying they are closed due to COVID19. I'm sure there would be pleanty of members that had bookings at Yardie over the comming months.........has anyone got their money back as yet??

We where told they had a huge amount of cancellations and unsure when they would be able to afford to give money back.
Doesn't strike me as the sort of place that has a huge load of cash saved up in case something like this ever happened

So you paid the ful amount
So you paid the ful amount up front and not just a deposit? If that's what they demand then something doesn't smell right.

It's also against the law
10% deposit fine, to ask for full payment not allowed you didn't offer it to them did you. If so you could experience a bit of a lumpy road in getting it back. But it still remains you have not got what you paid for and that is why good businesses have insurance for

Tried calling multiple times
Tried calling multiple times plus sent them an email to cancel last week for trip in end of this month, haven't heard back yet. Hoping to get my refund or credit back at least...
I know the fine print states no cancellations but with State/Exmouth shire restrictions in place I'd think they have to at least work something out with their customers. Was going to be my first time trying out Yardie after lighthouse closed down. Hoping for a positive result for the 2 parties.

Give consumer protection a ring
People put a lot of things on paper like "no refunds etc" that doesn't cancel out their obligations under the law.
The law is the law no matter what they want to place on a booking form.

Credit Card.
If you paid on credit card, then give your bank a call. They will open a Payment Dispute for you and chase it up.
Explain you have tried to contact them.
Maybe the best way to get your money back.
Good luck.

Was booked into Bayview Coral
Was booked into Bayview Coral Bay in June. Paid 50% deposit as per normal.
I rang them a couple of weeks ago and was informed that under their terms if I cancel up to 3 weeks beforehand then I get 90% of my deposit back. Alternatively, if I defer until next year I get a full credit.
I have emailed and asked for refund, if not possible then a full credit for the same time next year is acceptable.
They have advised via auto reply that they are currently open and operating but flooded with enquires via both email and phone. They will respond in due course. I don't expect any problems but will adopt a wait and see.

The reality is that even if
The reality is that even if businesses up there sting some customers, there will always be others to take their place.
I do wonder how many of them have enough cash in the bank to refund everyone at once. I am still waiting for my cashola back from DPAW for our Ningaloo reef camp site. We deferred our RAC bookings for 12 months and i am awaiting confirmation for that too.

My old mans tourism business
My old mans tourism business lost a whole year of bookings virtually overnight. After refunding 80k of deposits it left him walking straight into Centrelink for the first time in his life. Pretty rough.
Does anyone know where the love of god goes, when the waves turn the minutes to hours?

There will be plenty of that
There will be plenty of that around.
A mate at work's parents run a tour down in Margot Creek and they had a bus tour underway that they had to cancel mid tour and return people to hotels. That is their business done for X months.
My wife is a beauty therapist. Thanfully we have just passed the expensive time of the year and working from home, our expences are low at the moment.
I feel for the people that will lose everything.
