Any suggestions for land based fishing near Margaret river?

Going to Margaret river with a few other couples and just looking for a spot to do some land based fishing just chasing herring, skippy, tailor and have a beer preferably out of the wind to keep the girls happy. Was thinking of that beach just a couple of hundred metres north of surfers point at the river mouth there? any other suggestions for a spot close to that area appreciated as I don't know the area well at all. Taking a couple of 4WD's so a 4WD area close to there would be good too cheers for any help

hey mate there is aspot for herring etc in prevelly left of the boat ramp i bagged out on them last time i was dwn that waybig bull herring,run a float with 20lb leader about 1mtr long and tie a gold twisty on the bottom works a treat

Depends on what you're chasing mate, the Contos strech is probably one of the best all rounders....
You'll get the usuals of the beach and off the stones but with the chance of a sambo/ytk or even a demersal...
Be sure to tie off though on any of that granite as its bullshit slippery, dont get complacent when its dry because if the black granite gets the slightest bit of moisture on it you wont stop sliding until you're in the drink.

i was in the same predicament
i was in the same predicament when i went down but i went for an evening fish at gas bay all i got was an eagle ray but i was talkgn to some other bloke there and he said he usually gets a feed of tailor, but the time i was there teh seaweed was really bad btu still looked like a good spot.
i need cheaper hobbies

Moses Rock
The area round Moses rock has many spots where you can safely fish for herring and skippy, easy to get to and you nevr know what is going to bite
