Whales
Earlier in the week we saw some about 5nm off Mindarie. We were sitting on the back side of 3mile so couldnt tell you how many were in the pod. One did a full breach and that got our attention then there was a stack of tail/fin slaps. They were heading south at a steady trot. A few weeks ago we also saw a stack, about 4 pods, in the 40m+ area. With the ban on we havent been back out that far.
Good luck in your spotting on the weekend.
Sometimes when the water is quiet, you can hear the fish laughing at you !

Whales
Had these ones around the boat for over an hour in the 40's off Mindarie a couple of weeks ago. We were sitting on top of a bait school and they were right next to the boat where you could just about touch them. A bit freaky at times with them being so close - and the big one giving us the "eye".

I'm keen to take the Mrs and kids out of Dunsborough this weekend to watch some whales. Is there any place in particular that they hang around?

Plenty off Rockingham
Plenty off Rockingham yesterday! offshore tho
from my Facebook:Today was one of my most memorable free dives ever - we were diving about 40km from shore in approximately 25 metres of water. At the surface I spot a pod of some 25 dolphins headed in my direction. As they approached me they dove toward the bottom below me, then above them, near the surface, 2 massive objects were headed directly head on towards me. For a split second I thought they were two Great Whites. It was when they turned I realised they were two Humpback Whales some 5 metres away from me. They were huge, at least 10m+ in length, they eyeballed me and continued on their way with the dolphins in tow. Amazing experience
