Was gonna drop them in on the ocean side of Staggie reef on Sat arvo and pull them sunday morning - just wondering if its worth doing yet. Has anybody got any in that area yet? any tips appreciated cheers dave

I'm hearing crays are being caught in Pots, so probably worth while if you have nothing better to do. Pine / Jarrah pots usually take a few days to soak but ive caught them before without being fully soaked. So if you get dounuts its not necessarily due to there being no crays around.

The main reason I do not usually drop pots this early is that before the crays walk you need to get your pots in on/close to the reef making it easier for them to get jammed and lost before the run starts. It also allows more time for them to be stolen or moved by big swells prior to the run. If your unlucky you will have no pots left before the run.

Anyway, top weekend for it!

Cheers

Monday diving

Went diving off Mindarie on Monday. Got a few not heaps. I wouldnt say the crays were overly thick as the spots we tried were different to this time last year so thats probably not a true measure either. Dives were max depth 15m and 10m

Only saw a couple of whites. The ones that have now been recycled via the stomach look as though they have the old shell about to pop. But interesting most are a bit bigger than the usual white size.

Was spearing last week off Ledge and there was 3 cray boats working. Checked a few ledges out of interest and there was the odd cray but funnily enough quite a few out feeding in the middle of the day and far out of the ledge with plenty of feelers sticking out spotted.

Cray boats seemed to be working the 15m depth contours
