Anyone try Shimano Force Master 9000 electric reel? Suggestions?

Has anyone tried the Shimano Force Master 9000 electric reel for deep dropping?

If so, what are your thoughts compared to the Tanacom Bull 1000 and the Shimano Beast Master 9000ZB.

Torn about which reel to get.

Thanks,

bob

Shimano Force Master 9000

 Hi Wugubob,

I have a Shimano Force master 9000,I run it witha T/Curve offshore rod, it is great have used it in 600 metres of water and it does the job no worries, the only thing I did was change the cable arrangement and got rid of the alligator clips and use a cigarette plug adaptor, also the length of the original cable is short so be aware of that depending on your battery configuration, I have had my cable lengthened.

I use 100lbbraid one thing I would suggest is shoparound as there are a lot of differnet prices being charged, perhaps look on ebay as there are some reels on there.

Good luck

Skull,

Any complaints about the speed or noise of the Force Master 9000?

Have you seen the Beast Master 9000ZB?  If so, is it that much better?

Thanks,

bob

As I said I have ni issues with the 9000 except for the length of the cable, speed and noise I don't consider an issue, and sorry Bob but I haven't had anything to do with the 9000ZB hopefully another member will be able to give you feedback as I will be intersted in their comments.

 I compared the manuals

Sun, 2013-09-22 02:14

I compared the manuals between the two and the features are identical with the FM9000 having a newer version of the line programming function and the FM9000 doesn't have the real-time clock.

Speed is a little slower on the FM9000, it uses a brushed motor instead of brushless, and the hosting power is a little less (72 kg vs. 90 kg momentary, 12 vs. 15 kg continous).   Drags are identical.  BM9000 screen has a few more segments but that's cosmetic.

That said, if the build quality is the same, FM9000 is a great deal at almost half the cost.

BM9000 might have more pulling power but it got me wondering if it even makes any difference if real life usage?  Here's what I am thinking now.  The maximum drag on both reels is 25 kg.  Anything past that, the line goes out and the motor running has no effect.  For practical usage, you wouldn't even use close to 25 kg of drag; maybe only about 10 kgs at most.  With that said, does the maximum hoisting power between 72 or 90 kg even matter as long as it is greater than your drag setting?  Going to slip anyway.   What's more important is the continous power so as long as your drag is less than 12 kg, there is absolutely no advantage in power.   Correct me if I am wrong.

I have a FM9000 on the way to me.
