Article In Bunbury Herald. "Mail"

Under the heading "Local Fishers Support Sanctuaries" Tim Nicol of the Conservation Council claims 63% of West Australians beleive marine stocks are in decline and 6 out of 10 fishermen support protecting 30% of WA waters. How in the hell do these idiots get this media exposure by making such stupid statements without providing any evidence to support what they'r saying. I see there is a comment section at the bottom of the article so feel free to comment.

Bunbury Herald...

Tue, 2011-06-21 15:10

...I'm assuming is a local rag, like "Mandurah Mail" or "Wanneroo Times"? If so, they will print any reasonably written letter about any subject and/or opinion. All you can do here, Howard, is to write letter to them yourself, along the lines of your post above. If you can post up a link to the article, I might have a go myself!

Par for the course

Par for the course recently people, the tail is wagging the dog.

How many non fisho's in sunny Bunno think these numbers are true and factual? All of them. I thought subliminal marketing was illegal....They get away with it because they arent actually selling anything directly.

On another fishing forum

On another fishing forum I believe there is a vote saying that 63% support some sort of marine park/s so why don't we all agree that they go off the metro area.

The figure Tim is quoting

Tue, 2011-06-21 21:59

The figure Tim is quoting came from a report THEY commissioned.

Respondents were told that scientists had recommended at least 30% of the ocean should be locked up.

And then asked if they agreed.

I mean, seriously...I am surprised only 63% supported it given the way it was presented.

Anyone who has little idea of the issue is going to agree with "scientists".

If you ask me, it shows some people are more intelligent than the greens give them credit for.

WOFTAM.
