+1 for the Bimmi.

But if you get the hang of a platt then got for it. The platt may be a little better moving through guides, but I would defer to Mr. Miller for his opinion about that specific fact..

My boat rocks a fair bit in wind chop and after much practice I can tie a Bimini very quickly even with the boat spewin all over the place.

I found the Geoff Willson way of finishing the Bimini too hard for me, and when I found another finishing method I could tie a Bimini anywhere.

Good luck with your choice.

I use the plait to make a double in mono and braid, as well as splicing  two lines together. I find it goes through the guides "quieter" than a bimini.

splice with plait

Do you splice braid to mono with the plait? If so, two loops and loop to loop? If you plait them together can you describe how you do it? Been thinking about it and looking around for a method.

yes I do, so long as you have 3 "lines" to work with as in braid mono braid plait it down however long, then the mono forms the loop to finish the plait off. just make whatever the line is on the spool the middle string, so that it locks it off at the end.

hoped that helped?

PS. make sure you plait tight

 Bimini for braid and plait

Bimini for braid and plait for mono, never had a problem with either. Not worth the gains of tying a plait in braid I think.

always done the plait myself

always done the plait myself by it's all horses for course whichever one you find easier run with it. if you're doing the plait keep it tight so it doesn't slide, works better/eaiser in braid and i can do it very easily on a boat but mono i have to concetrate to get it tight enough.
