Bait vs Aritificial

After people opinions on baits v artificials of any persuasion in Shark bay or similar waters. Will be targeting (or trying to) baldchin, coral trout, emperor and of course pinkies. Dependant on the weather will be fishing both deep and shallow water. Never fished anything but bait up there before but been loading up on jigs/big soft plastics etc as I'm keen to give these a crack. Any thoughts/advice appreciated guys.

Yep agree with Travisjohn , both work but working plastics and metals is heaps more fun and only time you bring it top side is if there is a fish on or to move or to replace your shit after getting smoked !!!!

I find up north

It depends on the day. After a recent trip to Exmouth, I found they either want one or the other.

I had a day where I stuck to jigs 100% whilst everyone around me fished bait and caught reds, gold band, rankins ect. I got fark all!

yet on another day I got smoked about a dozen times whilst the bait was slow. As mentioned above, have a couple of options available and you can't go wrong really

We did a shark bay trip a few

We did a shark bay trip a few years ago 90% artificials. Way too many small pickers up there for my liking to use bait, at least with artificials you're targetting the quality fish and more important the larger specimens

Gave up trying

Have tried plastics for years and gave them up as a bad joke, never catching a single fish on them.
Same goes for tuna circles, old habits die hard as one automatically sets the hook but then if after dhufish its another story when you can recognise the bite and let them get to the third bite before setting the hook.
