Baitrunner 4500

Does anyone know if the 6500 and big baitrunner have stronger drags than a 4500?? fished between chidley point and rocky bay last night and about 2 am hooked up and got spooled in about 20 seconds, all 300m 30lb braid gone and also managed to melt and destroy the drag... reckon it must have been a big stingray but of all the rays ive caught never have i hooked any that go that fast... Just as i was looking at the broken reel the second baitrunner goes off exactly the same though this time it only got about 50 m before dropping the bait.

Destroyed drag and spooled, sounds very interesting indeed!!!! Would certainly have liked to have known what that was.

yeh my guess is a big, car bonnet sized ray. Melted the washers under the spool and ruined the thread on the drag cap which all fell apart when i tried to unscrew it. i was using live herring as bait. Caught a heap of herring and tailor on the outgoing tide, plus a huge star fish that managed to eat a whole scaly mackeral and 2 5/0 hooks early in the night. theres alot of cobbler around there at the moment, most were undersize though. Gonna try further up river tonight.
