Balla Balla - Tides and boat access

Hello,

Can you launch at Balla Balla on any tide? Also, are the creek systems to the west of Balla Balla accessible on any tide ?

Thanks

Joe

no you cant launch on any tide, you should aim just either side of the high

none of the pilbara creeks are realy all tide access mate, except if you know them really really well and only on some tides

two places i have launched at Bella are best close to high tide, tidal creeks up here ,so if your in one by prepared to stay for 6 hours at least if you miss the tide, plenty of mossies to keep you company

Tides

There are 2 seperate creek launch sites that are very close to each other, I found that the second one (left hand side) is easiest to use on a lower tide . Make sure you park you car far enough away from the water and general access area that people drive through. And make sure you lock up and dont have anything valuable showing....heard stories or breakins...is very remote.

Yes they are so much easier on high/rising tides & neaps if lucky, it all depends on your boat sizeetc and if ally or f/g. I have only fished the creeks near the mouth on big tides and you will find that water drains out REALLY FAST....so make sure you take note of your surroundings. The main creek entrance basically goes dry in some parts (as i found out late at night, trying to sleep in a samll c/console with fish getting smashed around you is hard to sleep waiting for a rising tide) and there are truck loads of Mozzies.

Good luck hope this helps

Thanks guys, I normally fish nickol river or cleaverville but I'm looking to get away from the crowds. I might go up to Balla Balla in the next few weeks on a rising tide and have a look.

Expect balla to be just as

Expect balla to be just as crowded as any local creek on a good weekend. You need to head real remote to get away from the crowds and even that's hard these days... spoke to a bloke at work that went up to Balla during the week and counted 16 boats... faaark that.

No good on the springs though bro as it floods the carpark and turns it into a quagmire.

Went there on new years day

Went there on new years day and she is definantly a 2 hours max either side of the tide for safe launching. We missed the tide to use the ramp with the rocks on her and had to make do with the bank near the rockbar, nice and steep and probably easier to launch there but pulling a 4.6m boat out with the tide going out and the mud to negotiate it was a little hairy and no good for the car.

Needless to say we got out ok, smaller little tinnines probably no issues but getting into the 4.5-5m range i'd be making sure someone else is there to help you out if your wheels head south.

Some impressive little holes in the feeder creek near the mouth and some funny bends and what not. i'm planning to head from balla balla and go south to some of the creeks near west moore island that look promising, ones to the north don't look very good for depth.
