Barramundi Lure

My Son has been transfered to Derby after two years in Leonora

Neither he or I have done any Barramundi  fishing but he will be keen az to give it a try.

Im sure he will  get some tips from the locals and his new colleagues when he gets there

but I wouold like to send him a lure or two - No fishing for two years, poor boy

I havent a clue what to get - any suggestions would be appreciated.

Barramundi Lure

Cant help with the lures as what we used in the 70s-early 80s (Rebel) are now not available but 7inch shallow dive minnows would be similar. One I had that was purple top and sides  and silver underneath was a good barra lure until a cat pissed of with as it smelt like fish.

Poddy mullet are good bait for that area

Get him to ask his mates about cherabin as they are in the Fitzroy river and Minnie Creek system. He should get some fine mesh dropnets for these good tasting fresh water prawns and I used to use Telecom soap and small tins of cat food as the attractant.

Also tell him that the crocs are a lot bigger and nastier than those in Leonora.

 Reidys B52 bomber casting

Reidys B52 bomber casting and trolling

Smaller halco RMG scorpions - awesome casting lures, jerk rod turn handle, stop and let it float and then repeat.

Get a couple of packets of squidgie paddle tail plastics... not the large size. Just cast let them sink and then slow retrieve.

+1 for Reidys lures, B52's in bright colours work well. Fished with them in Lake Monduran and caught heaps, including my 1.1m best.
