BBQ TO RAISE MONEY FOR VICTORIAN BUSH FIRES - THIS SUNDAY

I've been asked to post this on behalf of Shane who is busy trying to organise this event for the weekend.

A very worthwhile cause this one so it would be good to see people turn up if they can to support it.

Hi all

I've made an executive decision to hold a BBQ this Sunday to raise money for the Victorian fires.

Details are.....

This Sun 15th Feb, at 11.30am at Matilday bay foreshore.

It will be at the northern end of the bay near the UWA boat shed - I would have prefered the southern end but this is the spot we have been allocated by the Dept of Environment and Conservation who has also waived the associated fees because of the cause so I'm not complaining.

Matilday is reasonably central, has safe water the kids can play in (it's currently forecast 38C), good toilets (in uwa boat shed which I'm told we can use), is near a decent boat ramp and has a beach area where you can beach your boat. There are no bbq's at that end but the dept said you can bring portable ones along.

I'll make a dodgy sign, Fishos Unite for Fire Appeal or something equally creative. And I will gladly rattle a tin.

Bring your own everything and some cash notes to donate, $5 to $20,000 all welcome. (was $2 but I've since been given advice notes are easier to handle and count

I've called Recfishwest and they've offered to count the money raised. If any knows someone in security who can provide a beefy guard or something for the money collected during the day that would be appreciated.

Let as many people know as possible by any means possible. I'll be posting this on the other forums (Fishos unite right?), contacting Boating WA, trying to get it in the papers though I'm told it's a bit late for that, Recfishwest will sent out an email to all members. If you all could do the same that would be great.

So who's in????????

The Frog
aka Shane Boog

btw, if anyone can lend a hand organising this thing that would be appreciated. Never done this before but it sounds like the right thing to do. My number is 045 818 6660

Water Police will also be turning up to show off their boats, hopefully both the RIBs and the 54 footer Falcon! Smile And they will happy to chat to anyone and everyone about anything.

oh, and btw, in case you are interested, there is now a ............drum roll..................

$1,400 Aristocraft 2.3 Metre Inflatable Tender

up for grabs!!!!!!!

Kindly donated by Paul Duggan of Benbow

yeah baby, I might even have to enter that one Laughing Am I even allowed to do that, well it's my party so I'll cry if I want to ....whistle whistle...

Hi Ya,

Went for a drive to Canning Vale today and picked up nearly $3k worth of stuff for Shane to 'distribute'.  Included Okuma fishing rods & reels, Williamson trolling lures some Rapala stuff, soft plastics and an Engle fridge. Not sure how he will do it but I suspect raffle.  If you can it could be a very productive day for both those who attend and the vic victims

Cheers.
