Beach Camping/Fishing

Without giving away any fishing spots, where are good beaches to go camping overnight and fish?

I am mainly after spots that are good for camping. North of Two Rocks seems ok, but I haven't explored there yet.

Also, what are the rules in general about beach camping?

I think on most beaches in

I think on most beaches in WA you're technically not allowed to camp but if you have a rod in the water all the time they can't do much about it. The beaches north of Two rocks are good, Hill River in particular. Seen some jumbo tailor taken there. The Guilderton campsite is right on the beach and river so that's a good option along with Jurien Bay if you want to stay in a caravan park where you don't have to drive anywhere.

Beach Camping/Fishing

What I meant by camping is basically just overnight. In some spots it might be safer to stay put than to drive back at night because the best fishing is at dusk and dawn. I've just come back from Ledge Point and did lots of 4x4 on the beach (not beach camping though). I might try Guildeton next time.

I saw an episode of 'the water' with Steve Corriea where he camped on the beach, which is why I'm asking.

I think you will find that

I think you will find that they fished overnight, and just had a tent and sleeping bags for the kids, as camping on the beach is illegal :-)

As one of the folks said, the only spot where you can legally camp right (well 20m away) on the beach is Sandy Cape

I'd go Sandy Cape near

I'd go Sandy Cape near Jurien, just north of the main campground. I camped on the beach there comfortably 18 months ago. Heard south of the main camp is good too, but I've only been there the once and went north. As Hutch said, I'm pretty sure it's line in the water and you'll be left alone.

Never had any issues north of Two Rocks on the beach or in the dunes, you'll find plenty of others doing the same on the way.

 Are there any spots near

Fri, 2015-01-23 12:14

Are there any spots near peaceful bay that are good for beach camping? I want to take the kids away for the weekend, but not to a caravan park. Im not too worried about catching fish, just want to get off the grid so to speak.
