Ben Roberts War Hero or War Criminal?

Our soldiers who put their lives on the line to fight against people who themselves commit grievous war crimes/despicable acts now need to put up with this.
I understand that there are no confirmed details but fair suck of the sav.

Just who has made the allegation against Ben Robert smith I keep seeing this crap in news papers etc but I haven't seen who is making the allegations. We have the Army and now the feds looking into some allegation.
To me it seems that there is a section of our society that has nothing better to do than chuck crap stories about some of the bravest Australians on this planet, and the media gather it all in and then publish "rumours" of our brave troops committing war crimes.
I certainly look forward to Ben Roberts Smith having two days in court, day one where he can say his side of the rumour, and lets remember he is innocent until it is proved beyond reasonable doubt that he did something wrong.
Then on day two he sues the bloody hell out of all those who have published crap about the man and those who have until now not been identified.

I think there is also a very blurred line when it comes to the definition of a war crime.
My kids go to school with a couple of kids who's dads are SAS, at a school camp one of them (allegedly - they are not forthright in telling you what they do!) was telling me about the problem in Mogadishu (Somalia) that the US troops faced was that they were not allowed to shoot anyone who was unarmed - sounds fair enough right?
- except the crime gangs would run around with local reporters/tv crew - they would fire at the US troops but when the US troops got them in a corner they would drop their guns and wheel out the press which meant they could just walk away
-in the event that one of these somali's got shot - you can understand how a situation like that could be mis-interpreted....

This issue first came to light in Chris Masters' book "No front line" when is was released last year.
