Berkley Whiplash

Hey guys,
just wondering what's everyones opinion on berkley's whiplash braid. Has anyone run into any problems using it? The reason I'm asking is I've just spooled up my luvias 3000 with the stuff and thinking about using it on a couple of other spinning reels. Should I expect trouble? So far - no wind knots, sits nicely on the reel and casts a mile (might have more to do with the rod and reel?) - all positive! but I've only been using it for a month or so so am unsure. Also, it's super, super thin. Can a braid be to thin?

Chief as far as I know
Chief as far as I know whiplash is the higher end of the berkley braid up from fireline you can get better braid than than I have used it in the past in 50lb and found that it was snapping below the rateing but if its working for keep using it not one of the braids that I would use

A few people like it when
A few people like it when they want a lot of braid and nice and thin. Due to the thinness, some people recommend going one up in size. Pretty sure Ryan uses it a bit.
I would take the stated diameters with a large grain of salt, I dont think its anywhere near as thin as the numbers on the packages say (it is thinner than most braids for the same rated breaking strain though)

Braid can only be too thin around reef but any braid can suffer that fate. A good leader will help reduce that issue anyway!
I use Berkley Whiplash on many of my outfits. Spin & O/H and land big fish with it also. I use 20/30/50/65/80lb mainly and not one problem. You can use lighter weights with Whiplash's diameter ie bottom fishing/driftbaiting and well priced line.
I "G" pop with the 80lb also and my mate was using my G outfit last trip to Exmouth and he landed a 80kg plus threasher shark around reef and we were L/B!
I sell plenty through my shop and only had literally a few spool back in 3-4 years!
Top stuff the Whippy!

Been using it for years. excellent stuff especially as it is a very thin diameter in bottom bouncing therefore less drag. Recomend it anytime.

Theres no way it can be as thin as they state on the packet. I dont doubt that it is a fair bit thinner than other braids though.
However, consider that 0.1mm works out to PE0.4 for 30lb line!
That means that my little sol 2000 should be able to hold approximately 800m of 30lb whiplash. I would love to be proven wrong on this, and I would go out and buy a few spools. At 0.17mm for 50lb, you should be able to get at least 250m on the 2000 sized sol (or equiv daiwa). If I had the measurements of the width of the spool, the inside diameter and the outside diameter of the braid, I could tell you what the actual diameter is.

Berkley state that all Whiplash Braid is put over their Laser Micrometer at their USA testing lab. The line is tested & checked 10 times to get their avg Diameter and is correct!

Good stuff!
This shark would pull a big G backwards. My mate was using my G outfit (80lb Whiplash) and on sundown (L/B) he had a big hit and for a second i thought you bugger thats a big G . All of the sudden a big threasher shark started spinning out of the water and going berserk. Was a good long fight and the shark reefed my mate around oyster bommies. He eventually got it out and the shark was landed. We dehooked and released the shark!
After the shark was landed a few of the boys watching said they thought the line & outfit wouldnt land such a big fish in that environment!
Whiplash is good stuff!
The shark was landed in the reef crevice!

Doubting Thommases
Whiplash is IMO possibly the most underated braid around. I have used it to skull drag double hookups with relative ease. I have even used it for trolling (not that I would always just was lazy to not use mono on the day)and pulled monster maccies. Never had aknot issue, never had a line failure like I have had with other more expensive braids.
