Best autopilot for 7m ali boat

Just wanted some opinions on which autopilot seems to work best in a small boat.

Apparently Garmin is the go due to its highly responsive compass.

So anyone with a Simrad or any make! I would love to here your views before I commit.

Cheers Stoinka

I've got the Lowrance with a HDS. Does a pretty good job, and was reasonably cheap.

Current system?

I suspect your best option will be driven more by what current chartplotter system you currently have, unless you want to run the AP independently.

SIMRAD

I just installed a NAVICO unit that is paired up with my simrad also. took a few beers to dig deep thru the settings and stuff for the vitual rudder feedback, but once got that set up she runs great. Really easy to set and operate from the headunit also. Do a bit of research into what GPS your going to use thou.  the "point-1" compass is only good for inshore & near shore they reckon. Then they have the RC42 option thats better for offshore. Then you can then step upto the bigger ones like the HS60 that gives you even more options again.
