The best dive iv had

Headed out this morning ,wind was up and see was choppy ,we headed out to a new area and started sounding around ,we picked up a small edge and some good schools of fish ,in 13m of water .After setting the anchor we were on our way down ,as I hit the bottom and looked back Jesse was still on the surface ,so back to the top ,once on the surface Jesse informed me he was having trouble with his ears ,and was going to sit this one out ,well done to him for picking up the signs ,and not pushing to deep .So back to the bottom we were welcomed by a school of sambos and yellow tail kings some good size . On the sounder this edge was a lot like any other but ,once on the bottom It was one like I have never dived before ,small caves and ledges ,but all different somehow. Then a dhuie swam out to take a look at the new guys ,then another ,there was some nice sized crays ,the whole time I was thinking of Jesse sitting on the boat ,anyway we were down to 100bar and headed back to the anchor, we swam a total of 100m on this edge and saw 6 dhuies some size some under ,this edge runs for miles .next time I will take the camera and film the dhuies. the inside reefs are holding a lot of small dhuies which is a great thing to see .I did at one stage take the safety of the gun and line up a nice dhu but alas could not pull the trigger .

sounds like a great spot Paul. as far as the gun goes they say the first fish is the hardest . you realy need to take the camera with you on every dive as you never know what you will see

just make sure someone has the video going at the time. that would be great to see and do. btw gotta give Jesse credit for pulling the pin on the dive rather than risking an injury

Sound like a very productive piece of reef & enjoyable dive spot Paul. Onya Jesse for thinking ahead, no dive is worth the risk. The U/W footage mate of you feeding the Dhu's would be awesome =)

nice work paul - was that

nice work paul - was that out from two rocks way?  Seems like  there's a few dhuies in that sort of depth.  My oldman got a 11.5kg dhu in 12 metres last week....

Feeding?

Sun, 2010-01-03 19:48

Paul have you had any luck getting the dhuies in close by feeding them Mulies. I dived last weekend and tried crushing up a cray to see if the 25lb dhuie i was eyeballing would come closer- he was not keen to play the game.

That is very interesting. I wouldn't mind hooking into one of the bigger ones.
